The Society of Information Theory and its Applications (SITA) was found in 1978.
The Society promote close cooperation and exchange of technical information among its members. To do this, the Society holds two kinds of symposia : the domestic and the international ones. The objective of those symposia is to provide a forum for researchers and technologists to present new ideas and contributions related to information theory and its applications.
The domestic symposium takes place annually at a famous Japanese spa, while the international symposium, called ISITA, takes place outside Japan, typically in November, every other year.
